How did you find NaturalAnnie Essentials?

I'm uncertain who emailed who first, but I heard about Natural Annie Essentials via Instagram. Here at CURIO we like to say that we specialize in "cool things by even cooler people" and NAE definitely fits that bill. More to the point, we focus our range of brands on charismatic products created by female entrepreneurs, artists and independent brands. It's really magical getting to work one-on-one with other driven, creative women across the country. I was immediately taken with the story of Natural Annie Essentials and the dedication to authentic, honest and quality products.

What would you say is your best seller from the NAE line?

Our bestselling Natural Annie products are the undeniably delicious-smelling candles. Most specifically, Ylang Ylang & Rose--- I think it's a very calming scent, regardless of the season.

How do you want your customers to feel when they leave CURIO?

Being such a small shop, we put a lot of pride and focus on our relationship with both our makers and our customers. We want our customers to feel connected with the products that fill our shop and the amazing people who made them. Each product tells a story because of the person or people who made it--- we want our customers to feel connected to those stories and the hard work and inspiration that goes into creating those items, even if they're just window shopping.

Additionally, it is important to us that our customers know where (and to whom) their hard-earned money is going. Every dollar spent at CURIO directly helps support one or more female entrepreneurs, artists or young creatives. For us, shopping is much more than buying a great gift or finding your next favorite outfit, it's about putting your money where your heart is and supporting those who share your beliefs and bring positivity into our world. Most simply put, I want our customers to feel inspired when they leave CURIO.

Why is it important for you to work with fellow indie brands?

It's no secret that the world we live in is a tough one. We want to put positivity out into the world and support those who share our beliefs (creativity, inclusivity, open-mindedness and great design to name a few) and to create a community through the brands we carry. As we enter our 5th year here at CURIO, I am still constantly amazed at the wonderful folks we meet--- nothing beats having a deep connection with the people and products that fill your life.

What's a fun fact about you/your store you'd like to share?

In addition to selling new products from independent designers and makers, we also specialize in 20th-century clothing and furniture. We believe in bringing the best of the past and present together--- you'll even see "Lucille" the 1962 Pink Ford Thunderbird parked outside in front of the shop.
